The german standard DIN 4844 regulates the uniform design of safety markings and safety colours as well as their presentation to the public. It specifies the design principles and areas of application for safety labelling.
Safety signs (e.g. mandatory and prohibition signs) and safety colours (e.g. red for prohibition signs and blue for mandatory signs) are used to identify various hazards and ensure safety in all areas thanks to their high recognition value. Rescue and escape route markings provide orientation in an emergency.
